Auntie's House is a traditional Cycladic house built by Cretan refugees in 1850. It has undergone significant improvements since then, with all modern conveniences such as electricity, running water, a modern-day toilet, and a kitchen. The early part of it still maintains its Cycladic character, with high ceilings and a sturdy, wooden roof. It is ideal for 1-4 people. A group of 5 friends may also be accommodated with prior arrangement.
The house includes a bedroom with one double bed and a dual bunk bed, a smaller single bed can be added for a 5th guest, a dining room area with a fireplace, a small kitchen with modern electric oven and stove, microwave oven, and all utensils, and a low-ceiling bathroom with shower, toilet, and sink with hot water. There is a single air-conditioning unit in the dining room area, and a ceiling fan in the bedroom.
One of the main advantages of Auntie's House is the beautiful, elevated view of the seaport of Adamas, its quiet location, and a large terrace in front strewn with unique, flat stones. A long time before sundown, the entire house including the terrace is under shade, allowing guests to enjoy the beautiful view.
The beautiful, tamarisk tree-lined Lagada beach is just a short walk away.
This house may be renovated, but it is far from being luxurious. It is not for those who seek luxury, and will not appeal to persons with kinetic difficulties, as guests need to climb up (or down) several stairs in order to get to it. That's the price one has to pay for being in a quiet neighborhood.
Street parking is available in the neighborhood.
Internet access is limited, provided via a Wi-Fi pocket router via cell coverage.
